THIS year we are again looking for people to support the Lymphoma Association during Lymphatic Cancer Awareness Week (May 20 to 27, 2006) by holding a Great British Tea Break (GBTB).
Last year was the inaugural year for the GBTB which was very well supported and more than £6,000 was raised from the event.
This year, with the support of your readers, we would like to make it even bigger and better.
The GBTB can be as straightforward and simple as you wish. It could take place in a home, the local village hall, hospital, school, work place and so on. money can be raised by charging for entrance, refreshments, a table-top sale and/or running a raffle.
All the money raised from the event goes to providing information and support services to lymphoma patients. Every year, nearly 11,000 new cases of lymphoma are identified in the UK alone, making it the seventh most common cancer diagnosed by clinicians and the most common cancer affecting the under 30 age group. A GBTB pack is available to anyone interested in taking part in Britain's Biggest Tea Break. These can be obtained by calling the fundraising team on 01296 619419 or emailing fundraising@lymphoma.org.uk.
