IT slowly dawned on me that when Chris Titley signed off from last week's Yesterday Once More, he was also signing off from the Evening Press, as it was then still called.

Yesterday Once More was very much Chris's baby and over the years this feature has had a major role to play in heightening interest in York local history.

So, many thanks to Chris for making such a contribution to the life of this city in such an interesting and always readable way and best wishes for his continuing career in journalism - freelancing, but never freewheeling!

One more thought: as The Press can wing its way through the letter-box so early these days, could the day's mail delivery be combined with it to improve the latter's service and timing? With howls of protest from news and mail lobbies ringing in my ears, I'll close.
