It seems that I have stirred your correspondent Rory Mulvihill and others to express their anti-Christian viewpoint and to come out with the usual talk about "blind faith" and "brainwashing".

But there is a gap of about 20 inches in our thinking.

The genuine Christian standpoint has nothing to do with the abandonment of reason, but everything to do with the response of the heart to the Living God.

So after 40 years of unbelief, Rory has exchanged one kind of darkness for another.

My own experience has been very different. To me the challenge and focus of Christianity has always been Christ Himself.

In almost a lifetime of seeking to follow Him, and through many ups and downs in life, He remains to this day a Saviour who is a living reality.

From apostolic times up to the present century a multitude who cannot be counted have found the same.
