A TEAM of 16 employees from Deans Garden Centre at Stockton-on-the-Forest, York, are waiting to learn the outcome of their two-mile run in the York City Jog for the British Heart Foundation (BHF).

They are hoping that their run, which took them down Minster Way, across Millennium Bridge and Ouse Bridge and finished back in Tower Gardens, will have raised £1,000.

That is a hefty contribution towards the £10,000 pledged by the public to the more than 300 runners who took part.

Imogen Walker, who organised the Deans Garden Centre team, said: "The British Heart Foundation is a fantastic cause, and we will be fundraising throughout the year to raise as much money as possible."

Helen Whitely, regional event organiser, said: "We're delighted with the amount of people who took part in this event, and would like to thank the team from Deans Garden Centres and everyone who took part and helped in making this a record year for the event."

"All the sponsorship raised will make a huge difference to the work of the BHF, and will help fund further research into the causes, prevention and treatment of heart disease in men, women and children."
