Dringhouses suffered their first Leeper Hare York and District League Reserve 'A' defeat in 25 games to put title celebrations on ice, writes Terry Todd.

Hosts Dunnington, who knocked Dringhouses out of the FA Cup earlier in the season, led with goals from Paul Fowler and Nick Robinson before Wayne Carter pulled one back for Dringhouses who also missed a late penalty.

Nestl Rowntree made it five straight wins as they beat Pocklington 2-1 with goals from Wayne Scaife and Eddie Phillips.

New Earswick, with their first home win in eight matches, moved out of the bottom two after they beat fellow strugglers Kartiers 4-1. John Conroy hit two of their goals with Simon Connell and Shaun Urquhart completing the scoring.

A win in their final game of the season will see Rufforth take the Reserve 'B' title after they drew 2-2 at home to Bishopthorpe. Two first half goals from Paul Broadbent put the visitors in front but Rufforth salvaged a point through Pete Powell and Mike Elsworth.

Second-placed Easingwold kept a clean sheet for the fourth consecutive away game as they won 2-0 at Wilberfoss.

Thorpe Utd are still in promotion contention as they stretched their unbeaten run to 15 games after they demolished Stamford Bridge 8-0. Veteran Billy Gundry hit four goals, Arran Tiplady a brace and Lee Knights and Craig Welford also struck to complete the rout.

Despite having no fixture this weekend, Heworth have won promotion from Reserve 'C' and now need only one point from their remaining two games to take the title.

York RI are still in the chase following their 4-3 home win over Amotherby. Their goals were split between Dave Clarke (2), Liam Morrison and an own goal.

Riccall's challenge took a knock as they could only draw 1-1 with lowly share-all specialists Civil Service.
