END of season excitement is reaching fever pitch in the York Primary Schools' football leagues.

Bishopthorpe are in the champions' seat in League 'A' after a hard-fought 1-0 win over closest rivals Westfield. They beat Lakeside 5-0 to head the chasing pack but two wins will mean victory for Bishopthorpe.

Clifton could yet beat Yearsley Grove in League 'C' with their two games in hand after beating Robert Wilkinson 2-0.

St Wilfrid's still top League 'C' despite four back-to-back wins for Hemplands, St Wilfrid's putting seven and four past Wigginton in successive matches.

Haxby Road's improved form in League 'D' has moved them up to second, but a 1-0 loss to Headlands leaves Headlands in pole position - and their clash with Dunnington may well sort the winner from the runner-up.

Skelton moved level on points with Osbaldwick in League 'F' with a 4-2 victory over Knavesmire, but Os have games in hand and a better goal difference.

Westfield 'B' are the team to beat in League 'H' after two successive wins catapulted them into second place behind Copmanthorpe.
