ABOUT 300 girls from 42 junior schools around York took part in the High Fives Netball Tournament.

The schools were split into five sections and the five winners will now meet for the Championship Cup on Wednesday, April 26, at Rawcliffe Netball Club.

Those winners were Poppleton Ousebank (who won the large schools competition), St Aelred's (intermediate schools), Bishopthorpe (small schools), Knavesmire (mini schools) and Skelton (micro schools).

Three York venues - Lowfield School, Archbishop School and York Railway Institute - were used and they all saw an excellent standard of netball with many close matches.

The individual top scorers were Minster School's Sadie Hill (micro schools) with 11, Knavesmire quartet Abi Olsen, Alice Rogers, Faye Whitley and Hannah Schofield (mini schools), all with seven, and St Aelred's pupil Victoria Klays (intermediate schools) with 12.
