IN view of the Government's decision to cap York's council tax, I trust the city council will now review its proposals to relocate the Arc Light facility to one of the city centre's principal car parks.
The council cannot afford to reduce the income it receives from its car parks, a fact brought into to sharper focus by the Government's directive.
Moreover, given the propensity for major building projects in this country to exceed their budgets, it is imperative the council produces its whole-life costings for the proposal, along with a detailed risk assessment.
These details need to be held open to public scrutiny if we are to avoid any further pressures on the local public purse.
