I RESIDE in the Danesmead Estate, a recognition of the Danes who lived in York at one time and fought battles here.
The streets are named Stockholm, Norway and Danescroft and remind us of our origins.
Our Royal Family is basically Scottish and German and many streets are named after Albert and Victoria of German origin. What is wrong then with Bismark Street (Letters, March 30)?
Surely we are grown up enough to recognise our diversity and our history. Mrs Goodrick's false nationalism is totally inappropriate in 2006.
Richard Whiting,
Redman Close,
York.
