ANDREW Burns and Jordan Foster were the pick of the crop for York City Baths Club at the Yorkshire Age Group Championships.

Both were in the running for the top boy awards in their categories after starring in the final weekend of races - the short-course sprint events at the Ponds Forge Pool in Sheffield.

Burns, aged 12, finished second with Foster, aged ten, coming third.

Burns, who had shone in earlier events, won bronze in the butterfly, was fourth in the breaststroke and sixth in the freestyle.

Foster took silver in the 50 metres butterfly, bronze in the 50m backstroke and finished fourth in the 50m freestyle.

Sebastian Dobson, nine, won double silver in the 50m butterfly and freestyle races.

Anna Atkinson-Smith, 11, was third in the 50m breaststroke, fourth in the backstroke, seventh in freestyle and eighth in the butterfly.

Twelve-year-old Sophie Edmonds-Allen gained bronze in the breaststroke.

Other York finalists were: Xavier Edmonds-Allen, 12, 4th freestyle, Anna Ward, 9, 4th butterfly and 6th backstroke, Oliver Wilby, 14, 5th backstroke, Jennifer Hodgson, 11, 6th backstroke, Christian Carty, 9, 6th freestyle, Sophie Glasby, 13, 7th backstroke, Alex Fowler, 14, 7th breaststroke and Oliver Hicks, 10, 8th breaststroke.

York swimmers performing personal best times were: Kate Garnett, Kayleigh Brown, Katie Mitchell, Ben Barber, Tom Bartram, Molly Eaton, Claire Owen, Alice Carty, Suzy Parrott, Hannah Garnett, Kirsty Smith, Simon Duston, James Wilby, Tom Eaton, Joe Brennan, Laura Briggs, Laura Pitt, Georgia Mellors, Michael Feetenby and Angus Clarke.
