I WOULDN'T worry too much about what the Highway Code says (Letters, March 17), it is apparently only a book full of suggestions.

Last year, I was hit on a roundabout which I was already on, by a man who was intent on going around the roundabout at least 270 degrees.

He was in the left lane, not the right and not indicating his intention.

Now it appears that the insurance companies want to settle 50/50 as it seems I didn't use my powers of clairvoyance to realise that although this man was breaking all the rules of a roundabout as set out in the Highway Code, he was going to cut across me and damage my car.

The Highway Code, they told me is only a guide.
