The Leeper Hare York and District Senior League Cup is one of the few prizes that has eluded Dringhouses in recent years, but the trend continues for at least another year following their 2-1 defeat at the hands of Nestl.

Though Nestl won the last meeting between the two sides in January, their form has dipped with no wins while Dringhouses have remained unbeaten, so it was a bolt from the blue when Matty White broke clear and chipped the Dringhouses keeper to open the scoring inside the first ten minutes.

White provided the cross on 22 minutes for Alan Howard to double their lead, an advantage they held until 13 minutes from time when Mark Woodward reduced the arrears.

For the second time this season, York St John's had drawn Stamford Bridge in a Cup competition and for the second time they won comfortably.

Goals from Ben Winstanley (2), Mickey Craig (3), Robin Bedford and Rich Golding set up a semi-final date with Nestl. The other semi will be contested between Copmanthorpe and Wigginton.

Two goals from Graham Butcher set up Copmanthorpe's 2-1 win over Haxby, Dave Thompson scored for Haxby.

Wigginton overcame Tockwith 2-0 with second half goals from Ashley Hill and James Vine.

In the Junior League Cup, St Clement's repeated last week's league victory over Strensall winning 3-1 after extra-time. Kierran Slack put Strensall in front direct from a free-kick, but St Clement's sent the tie into overtime with a 30-yard effort from Martin Brown.

With penalties just five minutes away, Scott Nicholls and Darrel Strickland sealed the win for St Clement's. Their opposition in the last four will be Sheriff Hutton, who overwhelmed Hemingbrough 7-3. Ross Moynihan hit four of their goals with the remainder from Dale Phillips, Chris Cooper and Jim Scott. Hemingbrough, who trailed by five goals at the interval scored through Rich Singh, Chris Caudwell and Danny Smith.

Norton, having already beaten Heworth this season, led 2-0 at the break with goals from Stewart Ellis and David Allen but Heworth hit back with two goals from Ben Branigan to send the game into extra time. Branigan then completed his hat-trick five minutes from time to give Heworth a semi-final date with Osbaldwick, who beat Civil Service 3-0 with goals from Richard Burnett, Paul Crangle and Nick Lawrie.

In the Reserve League Cup, Reserve 'B' side Bishopthorpe's hopes of a treble with the league and a possible York FA cup final looked to be over as they trailed Reserve 'C' side Civil Service 3-1.

But the treble was put back on track with goals from Paul Broadbent (3), Daz Miles and Dale Lumley as they won 5-3. Andy Dowson, John Hampton and Mark Lund gave Civil Service the early lead.

The quickest goal of the day was undoubtedly scored at Amotherby, Steve Clay gave Reserve 'C' side Amotherby the lead at home to Huntington but the Reserve 'A' team just edged home 2-1 with goals from Paul Dyson and Chris Dower.

Last season's beaten finalists Copmanthorpe took the lead at Nestl just after the break with a close-range goal from John Heslentine, but goals from Eddie Phillips on 65 mins and 86 min from Wayne Scaife gave Nestl a 2-1 win.
