LEADING Nationwide North scorer Danny Holland fired in his 22nd league goal of the season to add another three points to Harrogate Town's play-off push.

His 60th-minute angled strike was enough to grant Town revenge over Alfreton Town for their 4-1 mauling in February - and keep them bedded into the play-off zone in fourth place.

Lee Clark, who has had his loan spell from Scarborough extended until mid-April looked the most dangerous man in the first half but eventually it was a good build-up by Marc Smith and Roy Hunter that teed up Holland for his goal - and Town's tenth home win of the campaign.

Pickering Town prevented second-placed Northern Counties East League outfit Liversedge from making ground on leaders Buxton after a 2-2 draw.

Table-topping Buxton were subjected to a shock 6-1 home defeat against Sutton Town on Saturday - suffering only their second loss of a hitherto excellent league campaign - but goals from Pikes pair Steve Baxter and Dean MacAuley limited Liversedge to a share of the spoils against their North Yorkshire visitors.

Baxter gave Alex Mathie's men the lead on 26 minutes but a second-half brace from Paul Walker turned the tables before MacAuley levelled from the penalty spot late on.

Harrogate Railway were comfortable 4-1 winners over Thackley to stretch their unbeaten run to five games.

Graham Marchant opened the scoring on 13 minutes before Scott Ryan added a second moments later, netting after brother Lee had hit the post.

Thackley were handed a lifeline just before the break when James Riley added his name to the scoresheet but an unstoppable Lee Ryan strike and an excellent Phil Turner free kick put the result beyond doubt in the second half.

After reaching the Northern Counties East Presidents Cup final last week, Selby Town were brought back down to earth in the league when they went down to a 2-0 defeat at lowly Long Eaton.

Goals from Danny Beldham and Scott Downey were enough to earn the Nottingham side all three points.

A Steve Ward hat-trick gave Tadcaster Albion a much-needed tonic in their 4-0 NCEL division one home win over Rossington Main.

Rob Youhill was a thorn in the visitors' side in the opening half, being the provider of all Albion's three goals, with two coming from Steve Ward just after the half hour mark, and Matty Wain added another just before the break.

Albion handed the ball to Ward to complete his hat-trick from the spot after Matty Howgate was tripped three minutes from time.

Goole suffered another UniBond League division one loss after going down to Eastwood Town 3-0.

Two goals just before half-time broke the deadlock and a third in the 85th minute killed it off, leaving Goole in 18th place.

York City's youth team lost 1-0 at Darlington in the Football League Youth Alliance North and Midlands East Conference.

The York FA Under-17 select side will be chasing silverware on Wednesday night.

They are taking on their counterparts from Scarborough at Tadcaster Albion's ground (7.45pm kick-off).
