AS York City boss Billy McEwan regularly espouses, there's no "I" in team and for the Evening Press February Player of the Month there's no "I" in Neal either.

Neal Bishop was unveiled as Neil Bishop on signing for the Minstermen and that was how his moniker was spelled in City's home programmes against Aldershot, Tamworth and Forest Green. But the mistake was corrected at Saturday's home match with Gravesend and Northfleet.

City supporters group Jorvik Reds are also big fans of City's new midfielder and are raffling a signed "Neal Bishop" shirt.

Tickets cost £1 and can be bought from KitKat Crescent Social Club or the club shop before and after the home games against Accrington and Kidderminster.

You can also pay for tickets by sending a cheque payable to Jorvik Reds, a self-addressed envelope and a telephone number to Jorvik Reds, c/o Benjamin Fellows, 14 Coggan Way, Bishopthorpe, York, YO23 2QX.

McGurk has six of best

DAVID McGurk has opened up a six-strong gap at the top of the Evening Press Player of the Year standings after a second successive man-of-the-match award.

The on-loan Darlington defender took the honours in Saturday's 1-0 defeat of Gravesend and Northfleet to pick up a maximum three points.

McGurk also topped our readers' poll for the second match in a row to collect the two bonus points on offer in our Player of the Month contest, which he was leading comfortably before this afternoon's game at Canvey Island with two March fixtures left to play.

Former Darlington team-mate Mark Convery and James Dudgeon picked up two points and one respectively towards both contests as our second and third-highest rated players.

To be in with a chance of presenting a Player of the Month award, please send your man-of-the-match votes for any game by e-mail to dave.flett@ycp.co.uk within 48 hours of the final whistle.

Who's who?

DARREN Patterson's appointment as Oxford United manager this week led us to a spot of football trivia on the sportsdesk.

After surfing the web, we deduced that Patterson's promotion from youth-team coach to first-team boss meant four former York City players are now in charge of Football League clubs.

We will print the answers next week but here's a few clues towards their identity.

Gaffer 'A' was given his first taste of management on a caretaker basis this season after dressing-room unrest and is still in charge of first-team affairs at the struggling League One club.

Gaffer 'B' boasts 23 years of managerial experience having hung up his boots at Bootham Crescent in 1983.

Gaffer 'C' has enjoyed seven different jobs in the Football League and even guided one of his sides into the top-flight in 1991 before the advent of the Premiership.
