Ian McMath, a double-glazing expert who has two businesses in his native Cumbria and is starting to carve out a career as a racehorse trainer, can give his latest venture a huge boost at Kelso tomorrow by landing his first double.

McMath, who currently trains under a permit but who hopes to have a full licence next season, can score with Nifty Roy and Secret Pact.

The former ran out a comfortable winner at Ayr last month, coming home strongly after being given a cool waiting ride by Dougie Costello, who has the mount again tomorrow.

Nifty Roy clearly goes well in the mud and he is napped to oblige again in the Cedar Handicap Chase.

Secret Pact will have the services of Tony Dobbin in the second division of the Oak Maiden Hurdle.

He ran a good race at Carlisle last time to chase home the useful Some Touch and will be unlucky to come across such a talented rival in tomorrow's field.

The £10,000 Willow Novices' Handicap Hurdle is the feature race on the Kelso card and First Look is taken to continue his progression.

Peter Monteith's gelding won handsomely at Ayr last time and David Da Sila's 10lb claim will come in handy tomorrow in a race in which the selection is opposed by the equally promising Harmony Brig, a rival closely matched on form with First Look.

Nicky Richards, trainer of Harmony Brig, has good prospects of landing the Elm Novices' Hurdle with Money Trix, winner of both his starts this season and a facile scorer at Ayr last time. He looks smart.

At Fontwell, Malton-born jockey Andrew Tinkler, fresh from his first Cheltenham Festival success, can carry on the good work.

Tinkler, who gained a memorable victory yesterday on Greenhope, teams-up with Just A Splash in the Beginners' Chase.

Although not as talented as Tinkler's victorious Cheltenham partner, Just A Splash has a fair bit of potential and he will not need to produce anything out of the ordinary to beat this modest field.

Alan King, who saddled two Cheltenham Festival winners, has every chance of continuing his purple patch with Kandjar d'Allier in the Picnic & Hamper Co Handicap Hurdle.

A horse held in high regard by his trainer at the start of the season, the gelding has failed to come up to expectations over fences, but this switch back to hurdles could do the trick.

Also worth noting at Fontwell are the consistent Idris (2.10) and the lightly-raced Risington (4.30).
