I WOULD like to congratulate Arthur Boynton, secretary of the Say No To Housing Transfer group, and also to stalwarts Pam Oddel and Rochelle Cunliffe and all the members.
I have tried to follow their excellent example during my term as a Labour councillor over these last 22 years.
I'm not gloating or waving my flag as a Labour councillor on the resounding results of the ballot against the sell-off, although I'm very pleased.
I must remind the ruling Tory councillors "you can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you cannot fool all of the people all of the time".
As a Labour councillor I was always against the sell-off and am pleased common sense prevailed (March 11).
Now the district council staff can get back to do their real job of working on behalf of council house tenants.
