HARROGATE school St John Fisher are through to the last 16 in the country after beating Penistone Grammar School 4-2 in the Northern section quarter-finals of the Coca Cola English Schools' Football Cup.
Goals for twins Chris and Conor Donaghue combined with a Lyle Macfarlane brace to put St John Fisher through to the Northern semi-finals against either Brockwell Middle School, Cramlington, or Newlands Catholic School, Middlesbrough, for a place in the Northern final at The Riverside on May 5.
St John Fisher coach Aidan Pass said: "The game could have gone either way with SJF dominating the first half and Penistone Grammar the second. There was also a good crowd watching despite the poor weather conditions. This affected the passing of both teams as the pitch became heavy as the match wore on."
The semi-final must be played by April 1.
Rossett School's girls' team's Coca Cola Cup run has come to an end at the Northern stage after they lost 4-3 to Clitheroe Royal Grammar School.
