YORK will soon be able to boast three more rugby league internationals after a trio of young guns made it into their respective England youth squads.

The England Youth Under-15s and English Schools U16s line-ups for forthcoming encounters have been announced and New Earswick All Blacks ace Tom Stancliffe has been named in the former, with York Acorn duo Adam Jones and David Leeke in the latter.

Furthermore, two more York youngsters - Joshua Peacock and David's brother, Stuart Leeke - are hot on their heels having been picked for a Great Britain U14s train-on squad.

The three England starlets are already on the books of Super League clubs - Stancliffe with Hull, Jones with Castleford Tigers and Leeke with Leeds Rhinos - and they made it through to their respective England squads via area, regional and national training camps.

Fulford High School pupil Jones and Leeke, of Oaklands School, are now preparing for a tour to southern France next month. They are part of a 22-man squad which will play two internationals and a fixture against a regional select side.

Millthorpe School pupil Stancliffe and his 18-man England U15s squad face an annual clash against Wales U16s at the Brewery Field, Bridgend - the home of new National League club Celtic Crusaders - on Friday April 14.

Meanwhile, Stuart Leeke, 14, is following in the footsteps of his brother as he and Peacock have been picked for the GB U14s 'link programme'.

The York Acorn ARLC wing duo are classed among 40 of the best players in the country at that age group who are now in regular training ahead of internationals next year.

Furthermore, Stuart is currently leading the way in that squad when it comes to fitness. Part of the link programme involves fitness tests and an associated diet and training plan and, like David before him, Stuart has so far come out on top.

Leeke has followed his brother into the Castleford Tigers scholarship scheme, while Peacock is on York City Knights' books. David Leeke, also a winger, has since left Cas to sign a two-and-a-half year deal with Leeds.
