THE Press publishes many moaning letters from readers, the odd one from me, so just for a change I would like to write about an excellent local company, Quartz Travel, of Heworth, York.

In December last year we needed to get down to Gatwick airport to fly to Morocco. We booked Quartz Travel purely on price and paid half of the cost.

In November, due to circumstances beyond our control, we had to cancel the trip. We asked Quartz about a refund, only to be politely told by the owner that the booking terms stated no refunds. But, as he was sympathetic to our reasons for cancelling, he would take us to an airport at a later date. In the middle of February their excellent driver Derek collected us, and took us to Manchester Airport. Due to technical problems with our aircraft we were a day late flying home. But when we came out of Manchester Airport, there was Derek waiting to bring us home.

A lot of companies talk about customer service, but to Quartz customer service seems to mean more than out-and-out profit, as I know that they had to re-schedule some of their work to accommodate us on our return, which cost them money.

What a great little company, five star as far as we are concerned, and thoroughly deserving of a mention in the press.
