The first relegation issue of the Leeper Hare York and District League season has been resolved - Barmby Moor will be playing in division three next season.

Moor Lane, striving to avoid the drop from division two, beat fellow strugglers Hemingbrough 4-3 in a match reduced to 10-a-side.

Danny Smith (2) and Chris Caudwell scored early goals for Hemingbrough, but Moor Lane hit back with goals from John Cornelly, Charlie Goodwin and Danny and John Yeats.

The top two sides in division two now need only to win two of their remaining five games to win promotion after they both won.

Leaders Poppleton won at Sheriff Hutton 4-2 with goals from Craig Theaker, Danny Barrett and two from Dave Pickles, while Roger Lovelace and Dale Phillips replied for the hosts.

Second-placed Riccall extended their unbeaten run to eight games as they beat Civil Service at home 3-0. Dean Westwood, Liam Brown and Dean Greenhough scored for Riccall.

In division three, Norton came back from trailing to two Wayne Coulthard goals to 2-2 draw at Cawood. Richard Cass hit the visitors' first goal and Chris Seagar, scoring for the fifth game on the trot, got the equaliser.

Huby maintained their promotion challenge with a 1-0 home win over LNER Builders, Arthur Broadbent scoring.

In a rehearsal of next week's cup-tie St Clement's beat Strensall 5-3. St Clement's went 3-0 ahead through Daniel Stickland and Jordan Hornby (2) before Kierran Slack and Shaun Lyons replied. Hornby then completed his hat-trick and an own goal added to their tally before Matty Brown added a late goal for Strensall.

Melbourne made it four games without a defeat with a 3-2 win at Heworth. Tim Fennell (2) and Geg Nesbitt scored for Melbourne. Dan Horsley and Kev Ingleby replied for Heworth.
