THREE players have jumped onto the Evening Press/Collier Plant Hire leaderboard following last week's win at Featherstone Rovers.

Loose-forward Jason Golden was the Evening Press' choice as man of the match so collects three player-of-the-year points, while the next two best players, as deemed by the Press, were fellow forwards John Smith (pictured in action in the match), who gets two points, and Craig Forsyth, who collects one.

It was a mixed day for second-row Smith - nicknamed Bull - who has been cited for allegedly biting opposite number Steve Dooler and could face a Rugby Football League disciplinary hearing next week if video evidence suggests he has a case to answer.

Evening Press/Collier Plant Hire Player of the Year standings: Elston 4pts, Spicer 3, Golden 3, Bates 3, Smith 2, Blaymire 2, Forsyth 1.

THE first Knights Player of the Month of 2006 will be presented before tomorrow's match against Sheffield.

Three players were in the running for the February award and the victor's identity will be revealed shortly before kick-off.

Every Press reader who sent in a vote for their player of the month had the chance to win two match tickets and the opportunity to present the award on the pitch-side, and the lucky fans pulled out of the hat was Phillip Watson, of Wilberfoss.
