NEW signing Neil Bishop has won the Evening Press Player of the Month award for February.

Bishop has been on the winning side in each of his first four games for the Minstermen with his arrival from Scarborough coinciding with a resurrection of the KitKat Crescent club's play-off hopes.

The 25-year-old midfielder will be presented with a framed photograph at City's home game with Gravesend and Northfleet next Saturday.

Neil's namesake Andy Bishop was our man-of-the-match winner after his hat-trick in the 5-1 victory over Forest Green Rovers to collect three points towards our Player of the Month and Player of the Year awards.

Top scorer Bishop also received the most votes from our readers to collect the extra two bonus points on offer towards the monthly award.

Darren Dunning (two points) and Stephen Thomas (one) were our second and third-highest rated players.

Other recent matches saw Mark Convery (three), Thomas (two) and Neil Bishop (one) receive points towards both competitions in the 2-1 win against Tamworth.

Convery and Neil Bishop shared the two Player of the Month bonus points on offer, after receiving the same number of supporters' votes.

Neil Bishop was also our top man during the 3-1 victory at Exeter to receive three points with the efforts of Dunning (two) and Convery (one) also recognised.

Striker Clayton Donaldson topped our readers' poll to take the two Player of the Month bonus points.
