I NOTE that Dave Allison, of the Friends of Bootham Crescent, has opposed the proposed share offer to JM Packaging.
Although I too had some reservations when I initially read this report in Evening Press, I can't really see how we can resist something which will protect the survival of our club.
I can't see that Dave Allison has proposed any alternative funding solutions.
The club's failure to meet the Football Foundation's repayment timetable or our failure to provide security for the £300,000 loan from JMP must be addressed.
The financial support of the 2,000 hardcore fans over the past two seasons has been fantastic. But without the backing and support of the rest of the supporters through the turnstiles on a weekly basis, we must rely on the tremendous support and generosity of the McGill family.
Having met all the family over the past few years, it strikes me that they have nothing but the best interests of the club and fans at heart.
Where have all the other businesses in York been over the past three or four years?
Fans opposing these proposals should consider what other options are open to the Trust?
By all means let's have a public meeting and invite genuine York City fans to the meeting - with first choice being limited to Trust members and season ticket holders.
Val Duggan,
York.
