AWARD-WINNING York-based off-site construction specialist and Portakabin subsidiary Yorkon has made three new appointments.

After 13 years with Yorkon, Andrew Simpkin has been promoted to operations manager.

A member of the Chartered Institute of Building and a graduate in construction management, Andrew now heads up one of two teams responsible for off-site projects in both public and private sectors.

He will oversee retail, health, education and office schemes, from sales and estimating through to construction and handover of the finished buildings.

Rebecca Thompson has been appointed commercial team manager. With a career in the construction industry spanning 16 years, Rebecca joined Yorkon as a project controller.

In her new role, she will manage a team of project controllers and engineers, seeing off-site schemes through the planning, design and manufacturing stages, to fitting out and completion on site, and ensuring delivery on time and on budget.

The company's new business development manager for London and the South East is Tom Weaver.

His career has included several years as a Centre Manager for the Portakabin hire division.

He will now be working closely with local authorities and construction companies on the Government's Building Schools For The Future initiative and with independent healthcare providers and contractors involved in the Independent Sector Treatment Centre programme to increase capacity in the NHS.
