PRIME Minister Tony Blair seems convinced that a grateful world will inherit his legacy of Blairism.

If Blairism is to be defined it is this: the UK is under a particular threat from terrorism that did not exist before Mr Blair came to power.

It is estimated that the invasion of Iraq will in total cost the USA alone $700 billion. That's enough to give all 22 million Iraqis $32,000 each which is at least 32 years average income for every man, woman and child.

Governments should stop spending our taxes on weapons and war. Instead there should be proactive global disarmament (reduce our own WMD) and this wealth used to peacefully pre-empt the causes of terrorism.

Another possible legacy of Mr Blair could result from his unwise and unhealthy obsession to force (ponder on the word force) us all to provide our biometrics to the national identity register, with ID card compulsion through the back door.

The total cost of ID cards could be more than £30 billion.

Meanwhile, Labour closes our post offices, doubles council tax over ten years, raids personal pensions by £5 billion each year, allows energy prices to rise 24 per cent this year and permits banks huge profits while they evict families from their homes.

Shelter says there are 100,000 families homeless in the UK and one million children living in Dickensian conditions.

Mr Blair compiles unnecessary and unpopular laws to limit our movement, free speech and legal protest. He bullies his MPs to vote with him in Parliament.

Curiously the defenders of our civil liberties may be the House of Lords.

Well done to any members of the Lords who have opposed the Prime Minister's autocratic streak. Please continue to protect our liberty from Mr Blair.
