HOUNDS FC remain top of division one of the John Smith's York Sunday Morning League despite losing their unbeaten league record at Severus.

Atkinson had opened the scoring for Severus but Crowther equalised just before half-time only for Severus to step up their game in the second half when Mark Woodward scored twice - the second a 30-yard screamer to seal a 3-1 win.

Marcia's shaky form continued with a 6-2 defeat against Selby Olympia WMC, whose goals were shared by Chris Burton (2), Ryan Chadwick (2), Liam Brown and Sam Pinder. Ian Kettlewell and Andrew Green replied for Marcia.

The Nestl Volunteers and Derwent United clash produced 12 goals as Volunteers stormed home 9-3 after leading 3-2 at the interval. The goals came from Thompson (2), Bonarius (2), Jackson (2), Howard (2) and Rayner with Collins and Wilford (2) finding the net for Derwent.

Acomb WMC beat Pocklington 4-0 with a four-goal haul for Danny Gray, leaving bottom-placed Pocklington staring at relegation.

Also scrapping for their lives are Wigginton Grasshoppers who let slip a 3-1 half-time lead but managed to hold on to take a point against Nestl Flag. Two goals from Craig Huggins and one from Ben Coates gave Wiggy hope but Flag replied through Chris Dyson, a Kevin Martin penalty and Mark Smythe.

Shipton are still at the summit of division two after their comfortable 2-0 victory over Hemingbrough thanks to goals from Fratson and Whalen.

Bishopthorpe kept in the promotion hunt after their 6-4 win over Deramore Arms, with Fitzmaurice (2), Aconley, Wright, Wigley and Sanderson on target for the villagers.

Hambleton, with games in hand, remain a serious threat and stayed on course with a 3-1 win over Haxby Lions thanks to a Huddlestone hat-trick.

Skelton's grip on the top of division three looks a little tenuous after they were beaten 4-0 by improving Bay Horse Tadcaster whose goals came from Sebine (2), Nicholls and Davis.

Joining Skelton at the top are Acomb Celtic who stretched their unbeaten run to seven games by disposing of Inland Revenue 6-1 with goals from Scott Dickinson (2), Ian Hufton (2), Ian Dickinson and Dan Bee.

Matt Bastock hit a hat-trick Copmanthorpe look a good bet after they hammered Beeswing 7-2 the other Cop goals coming from James Gilbertson, Rich Colley, Davie Gall, and Del Neaves (penalty).

Strikes from Darren Heels and James Dexter saw Heworth home 2-0 against Selby Olympia Reserves. In division four, Real Way Station thrashed Gypsy Moth 8-2 with two goals apiece for the aptly-named Shooter and Hunter.

Bottom club Cueball Fulford Reserves pulled off a great 5-4 victory over Carlton Tavern to keep their survival hopes alive. Cueball heroes were Higgins (2), S Tomaino, Long and James.

It was all change at the top of division five as Cawood returned to the summit by beating Poppleton Road WMC 2-1 courtesy of McLoughlin and Walsh. Chris Moffatt got the Road's consolation effort.

Firkin103 kept up with the leading pack with a last-gasp 3-3 draw with Acorn. Firkin's scorers were Martin Hird, Chris Machen and Julian Gladwin with Teale, Cuthbert and Leigh Dutton replying for Acorn.

Forest FC won the battle at the lower end of the table by thumping FC Barlby 6-1 thanks to a Neil Jackson hat-trick, and further strikes from Gary Chapman, Andrew Lovett and Michael Craven.
