I AM Bill Hearld's number one fan and I have just split my sides, not literally, laughing at his column Trouble On The Cards (February 14).

Poor Bill, struggling with all those codes and PINs. At my age I don't have a problem, even though disabled through a stroke and living in a residential care home.

After writing all those air-mail letters during the war to my husband and two brothers with army numbers having to be quoted on each one, I have no trouble with pick and mix, sorry PINs - plenty to go at!

How I laughed at the mention of Bill acting like he did when guarding school answers.

His column is like a breath of fresh air - I'm just disappointed he didn't have a go about St Valentine's Day. Perhaps he's like my late husband who said every day was St Valentine's Day.

He was an old softie, romantic, and I just know Bill is, so I hope he went home and told Mrs H he still loves her.

Thanks for all the enjoyment he makes for me in his column. Keep up the good work of keeping me entertained.
