YOUR article about the former Shepherd Homes HQ brought back memories for me (February 16).
As a pupil at Mill Mount Grammar School between 1956 and 1959, some of the older pupils - myself included - used to go to the house when it was an orphanage, St Stephen's I think, one evening each week, to help bathe the children, put them to bed and read them a story.
If I remember correctly, the bathrooms had more than one bath, and were very, very cold and austere. I wonder if anyone else has recollections of doing this?
