TWO superb 17-dart games from Kev O'Hara inspired Mitre to an 8-1 victory at Falcon in the York Knavesmire Racing Darts League division one.

O'Hara was well backed by 17 darters from Rich Corner and Allan Galley, plus 18 from John Quantock and Dave O'Hara, who included a 105 finish for 21. Kev Newsome (17) took Falcon's only point.

Clifton 'A' took the lot against Bootham Tavern 'A', Steve Wade notching a maximum for 16 and Mark Hartley closing on 140 for 18. Martin Turner also went out on 16 and John Smith gamed on bullseye.

Greyhound led 4-0, Stu Limbert closing on 101 for 15 and Bill Platt adding a 21. Dave Johnson got Yearsley on the scoresheet before Dave Pilmoor-Simon Hirst secured the win.

Neil Fairclough took Crescent's only point at Volunteer with a 116 finish. Volunteer had a brace of 18-darters from Paul Cooper (bull finish) and a 21 from Paul Botterill.

Mark Curry, Pip Hair (21) and Keith Elliott all hit maximums for Huntington WMC against Pack. Toni Smallwood shone for Leeman with 19 and 180 for 21 but Ebor went on to record their first win of the season.

Chris Thompson powered his way into the finals of the Clifton Hotel Open Darts Competition with an awesome display. He's now the hot favourite after showing his Yorkshire County form in a superb win against Martyn Turner.

The first leg opened with both players hitting scores of 100, 100 & 140 to leave 161 after nine darts. Turner then hit 99 and checked out on 62 for 15. Thompson responded with 18 to level.

In the third, Thompson repeated his first leg score to leave 161. However, Turner hit scores of 180, 99 and 140 to leave 82 and on his next visit to the board hit the bull but missed 32, leaving Thompson to calmly go out on 71 for a superb 14 darts.

Despite Turner peppering the treble 20, Thompson superbly took out 68 in 15 to go through. Thompson went on to beat Darren Every with legs of 20, 21 and 21, and then Steve Wade in the board final with 15, 18 and 19.

Allan Galley, Russ Greaves and Dave Kerr are also through to the final stages.

The last qualifying matches are at Clifton Hotel tonight. Players should register by 8.15pm for an 8.30pm start.
