AFTER the excitement of a silver medal in the tea-tray event at the Winter Olympics it is heartening to learn that the next generation of Olympians are on the up.
In fact, York's young trampolining hopefuls are reaching such heights that they have been known to hit their heads on the gym ceiling. Happily, the owners of the building have received permission to create more room for their potential champions.
Less scrupulous owners might have sought cheaper ways to overcome the problem: by feeding the youngsters on junk food, say, or loosening the tension of the tightropes. Instead we can look forward to seeing these athletes bound their way to future glory.
