Unbeaten Hounds' great season continued as they reached their second semi-final of the campaign by defeating Derwent United in the York John Smith's Sunday Morning League Challenge Cup.

However, they were pushed all the way by a battling Derwent in a classic tie that went to penalties.

Chris Harkin put Hounds 1-0 up by half-time but Derwent hit back through Collins. With four minutes remaining, Mitchell struck to likely seal the tie for Hounds but plucky Derwent replied again through Barker in the final minute.

Derwent drew first blood in extra time through Bradshaw, but Jackson equalised to send the tie to a shoot-out in which Hounds prevailed 4-2.

Division two Shipton pushed top-flight Ainsty Panthers all the way but Ainsty held firm for a 5-3 victory. Tosh Reid hammered home a hat-trick, two from the penalty spot and the other a great free-kick, while Johnny Beech hit a brace. Shipton's replies came from Stilgoe, Cooper and an own goal.

Acomb WMC booked their semi final spot with a 7-1 thrashing of Wigginton Grasshoppers. The highlight was a Danny Gray four-goal haul, supplemented by Paul Barker, Karl Young and Neil Ducey strikes.

Severus SC bowled over Marcia 4-1 with Woodward, Watson, Jones and Hutchinson goals to go into the last four.

In the Where in York Trophy third round, division four Albion Vaults took a notable scalp as they beat Heworth from the division above 5-3. Dave Reesbeck hit a hat-trick with Adam Durnin and Jim Holroyd also on target. Heworth's marksmen were Grant Dunnington, James Dexter and Calum McKenzie.

On the league front, Selby Olympia shaded their division one tussle with Pocklington Town by the odd goal in five. On target for Olympia were Chris Burton, and Ryan and Danny Chadwick. Bond and Thomas replied for Pocklington.

Hambleton turned over rivals Cueball Fulford by the same 3-2 margin in the only division two game played.

A Nigel Croad double and a strike from Ian Huddlestone saw Hambleton home with Smart and Sargent on target for Cueball.

Acomb Celtic moved into second place in the third division after they edged out Beeswing 5-4.

A two-goal salvo from Scott Dickinson, with other goals from Ian Hufton, John Thornton and Kevin Gallagher gave all three points to Celtic.

Thomas's Hotel kept in touch with the leading division four pack after a 3-1 victory over Rumours. The highlight was Richard Chlebo's superb 25-yard free-kick with the other goals coming from Stevie Scott and Cliff Baxter.

Cawood find themselves back at the summit of division five following a comfortable 4-1 win over Acorn, who led at half-time. But Cawood's crackshots countered through Jon Carrier, detonating a 30-yard howitzer, Atton, Sykes and Hepworth.

Forest claimed a decisive 6-2 win over Pocklington Rangers with goals from Michael Craven (3), Andrew Lovett (2), Mark James, and Neil Jackson.
