YORK City top scorer Andy Bishop netted the National Game XI's first goal in a 3-1 victory over an Italian Serie 'C' representative side last night.

The 23-year-old striker was on target for the non-League Under-23 team after just seven minutes of the Four-Nation European Challenge Trophy clash at Cambridge United's Abbey Stadium.

Elsewhere, former City midfielder Lev Yalcin has landed a two-week trial at Hartlepool.

Yalcin, who was released by the Minstermen this month, had been training with UniBond League outfit Whitby Town before the chance to impress at Victoria Park arose.

Graeme Law, also recently released by City, will be hoping to finish the season by playing in the Scottish Cup final at Hampden Park.

Law's new club Dundee have reached the last eight of the competition and travel to fellow first division outfit Hamilton Academicals in the quarter-finals on February 25.

Glasgow giants Rangers and Celtic have both already bowed out of the competition and Hearts, Hibernian and Falkirk are the only three Scottish Premier Division sides left.

Law, 21, is yet to make his debut for Dundee having agreed terms with the Dens Park club until the end of the season.
