THE Evening Press recently published my letter pointing out that nursing and residential homes were receiving notification of having to purchase an entertainments licence in order to continue playing CDs, cassette tapes and video films (January 10).
Many people were concerned about this and I understand two local members of Parliament became involved.
There has since been further clarification - as long as the entertainment is "only for the residents and their associated families" then no licence is needed.
Nursing and residential homes can therefore continue to play recorded music and film to their residents as before. Any local council licensing department should be able to confirm this.
