Two Harrogate schools will represent North Yorkshire in the next stage of the Coca-Cola English Schools' Football Cup after reigning supreme in the county finals.

St John Fisher beat St Aidan's C of E High School 6-2 in the all-Harrogate under-13 final in the boys' competition, while Rossett School girls saw off Settle Middle School 4-1 away.

Chris Donaghue bagged a double for St John Fisher with James Orton and a Lyle MacFarlane hat-trick making up the total to keep the team unbeaten this season.

Amelia Greenbank found the target three times for Rossett School with Lauren Randall netting the fourth.

Rossett School coach Mike Sweetman said: "We have been in the county final for a number of years now and I am glad that we still have great if not better players coming through to maintain the standard of the Rossett School Girls football team."

The two teams now go through to the Northern Schools Cup with the winners of those qualifying for the national semis.

Cold weather KO'd York Under-11s' schoolboys football match against Bradford last Saturday.

The team return to action on February 25 at Leeds in the league. The same team that would have faced Bradford are asked to meet at St Therese's School, Leeds, at 9.45am for a 10.30am kick -off.

York U12s face Spen Valley on Saturday at Wiggington, kick-off 10.30am in the Matt Dale Cup semi final. Players to meet at 9.30 am with £3 subs.

Half-term football sessions have been arranged for boys and girls in years four to eight next week at Oaklands Sports Centre Astroturf.

Copmanthorpe community football club have set up a week-long course under the supervision of a Uefa 'B' licensed coach.

Prices are £9.50 a day or £5 for Wednesday, and booking is urged to avoid disappointment as numbers are limited.

Those taking part need to take Astroturf-friendly trainers, shin pads, suitable clothing, a packed lunch, drink, cap and sun block.
