INTANDEM, the York marketing and public relations company, has never flown higher.

It has just clinched a five-figure contract with one of the UK's top budget airlines.

Thomsonfly.com has set the three-person communications company the task of running a public relations campaign designed to help the airline promote inbound tourism to the UK for British people living in Portugal's Algarve.

Last July Intandem began working with Thomsonfly.com, which is the UK's third largest airline, offering regular, low fare scheduled flights from Faro to Coventry, Doncaster and Bournemouth airports and regular flights to a further 14 UK regional airports.

It also offers flights to 87 destinations across the globe departing from 26 UK airports - more than any other airline and all available to book via its website.

The contract is yet another major step for Intandem, which since its launch in 2002 by Rachel Goddard, a science graduate with two decades experience in marketing and PR, has more than tripled in size.

Its client list includes some of York and North Yorkshire's leading organisations, like Science City York; york-england.com, the inward investment board for York and North Yorkshire; Wetherby Racecourse; and York Science Park; as well as local and national companies.

This latest success follows hot on the heels of last week's Venturefest Yorkshire, whose business award Intandem sponsored for the third year running.

One of its clients, Bioflame, was last year's winner.

The high-technology Pickering company, whose revolutionary biomass burners are especially designed to convert waste materials such as used food, waste oil, feathers and even egg shells into energy, claims that Intandem generated business inquiries worth more than £4 million and advanced negotiations for orders worth £1.4 million.

Jo Orgill, Thomsonfly.com marketing manager for Spain and Portugal said: "We are delighted with the work Intandem has done for us to date. With their knowledge of travel and tourism marketing, Intandem has provided us with a creative and cost effective PR campaign, raising our profile to this very distinct market. They are a great addition to our team and we look forward to working with them over the next 12 months."

Working closely with Rachel Goddard are Rachel Dex, a former journalist, and Susan Kay, whose experience in marketing and PR for the tourism industry was a key factor in helping Intandem secure the Thomsonfly.com account.

Rachel, who with her team works in a converted barn at Dales Farm, Ellerton, said: "Our aim is to help clients use marketing and PR effectively and creatively so that it has a positive effect on their business and produces measurable results."
