Selby rarely deliver on their travels to Westfield Banks, Goole and Saturday was no exception.

Goole, despite their basement position in Yorkshire One, won 27-15 as Selby gave one of their worst performances of the season.

Selby were 15-3 behind by half time, after an error-ridden display.

Goole full back Alan Neal kicked a penalty after two minutes after Selby were caught offside.

After 37 minutes, Selby number 8 Rob Taylor fell heavily on his shoulder and was replaced by Jason Cicero. After three minutes of added-on-time, full back Rich Topping had to leave the field.

A great run by young winger Darren Hunter was brought to a premature ending by a high tackle, for which Goole hooker Moore, was yellow carded in the 52nd minute.

In the 56th minute winger Darren Hunter and full back Sam Weller ran into each other, Hunter having to leave the field with a head injury.

Selby immediately put Richard Fuller back on with Duncan Phillips playing in the backs.

Five minutes later, Selby flanker Wright Phillips scoring an excellent try in the corner. Dan Porter kicked a magnificent conversion.

Almost immediately, the referee asked Richard Fuller to leave the field as he had classified him as being Selby's fourth replacement when only three were allowed and with Darren Hunter unlikely to be able to continue.

Selby were now down to 14 men and three minutes later Kevin Lowery was yellow carded for obstruction.

Alan Neal's penalty kick fell short but a minute later, some poor tackling allowed the Goole winger Richard Ruhmann to force his way over for the try. Neal missed the conversion but Goole were 20-10 ahead.

With Goole's Moore back on after 69 minutes and Lowery after 78 minutes, Goole still had a one man advantage and they made it count in the third minute of added-on-time with scrum half Hawksworth scoring an excellent try near the posts. Richard Ruhmann kicked the conversion.

Selby had the last word in sixth minute of added-on-time when the ball was spread wide for a well worked try by stand in winger Ben Aked. Porter missed the conversion.

Goole's victory means that they retain the Tommy Burton Trophy.

Selby, who play York next Saturday at Sandhill Lane, have six league games remaining.
