York RI gave a superb all-round display and scored six tries to demolish visitors Wath on Dearne 43-0 in Yorkshire Three.

RI went ahead in the seventh minute when a wayward pass by the visitors' backs was intercepted by Nick Humphries, who had a clear run to the line. Michael Tyrpenou converted and then kicked a penalty.

RI's dominance up front gave Tim Nash space and time to use the backs and with Grice and Tyrpenou in top form Wath were always on the back foot.

A break by Tyrpenou, where he wrong footed the visitors' defence, led to the best try of the game. He sprinted though a gap he created and when running out of room hoisted the ball cross field, where Grice was on hand to catch and dive in at the posts. The conversion put RI 14-0 ahead.

Just before the interval RI extended their lead, a rolling maul from a pick-up and drive let Jon Alexander crash in at the corner to give RI a 22-0 half time lead.

A try by Nash with a blind-side break opened the second half. Tyrpenou converted.

Grice got another try and then hooker Anthony Allport made a bruising run, breaking four tackles to score under the posts. Both tries were converted.
