WHETHER by luck or design it was appropriate that Richard Thompson should finish his Grand Opera House concert with Ghosts In The Wind, in Europe's most haunted city (Review, February 6).
Indeed, it was a haunting performance by the veteran guitarist/songwriter and long time collaborator, double-bassist Danny Thompson. How can somebody with only the same number of fingers and thumbs as the rest of us be that good on a guitar?
Long-time Thompson fans sat happy in the knowledge that their hero has lost none of his skills despite having been a guitar legend for 40 years. First timers sat open-mouthed, hypnotised by Thompson's magic.
