TRAVEL-SICK Aldershot will be hoping to improve their dismal away record this season against York City at KitKat Crescent tomorrow.

The Shots have been beaten in their last five away matches and their last triumph on their travels came on November 19 when Cambridge United were defeated 2-0.

Cambridge (six) are the only team to have collected less points from their away games in the Conference than Aldershot's eight-point return.

But the Hampshire club's tally of 33 goals conceded in away league games is five worse than any other side in the table and no club can boast more defeats than the Shots' nine on their travels.

Aside from Cambridge, Burton Albion are the only Conference club that Aldershot have defeated away from the Recreation Ground this season and the Minstermen will be keen to avoid completing a hat-trick of scalps.

Aldershot's run of five straight away defeats has seen them overcome by Stevenage (2-1), Altrincham (5-1), Forest Green (4-2), Exeter (4-0) and Grays (1-0).

Terry Brown's men are also coming to terms with life without leading scorer Tim Sills.

The former Kingstonian striker left for League Two outfit Oxford United before the January 31 transfer window closed, having netted ten times in 20 starts for Aldershot this season.

Two loan signings have been assigned with the task of filling Sills' scoring boots.

Former QPR forward Leroy Griffiths has managed to grab three goals in four appearances since joining from Fisher Athletic, while Wycombe attacker Jonny Dixon will enjoy his second outing for the Shots against City.

Aldershot are also likely to include 34-year-old defender Greg Heald, who signed for the Minstermen in the summer only to change his mind about the transfer just days later.

Heald is pictured above thwarting a York City raid while he was at the heart of the Barnet defence.

But former Welsh international left-back Darren Barnard is unavailable because of suspension.

Barnard scored a last-gasp free-kick to earn Aldershot a 2-1 home victory over City in September, marking his return from injury in style as a late substitute.

The former Grimsby Town defender will be absent at KitKat Crescent, however, having picked up a two-match ban for his second sending-off of the season.

Barnard was red-carded for two bookable offences at Stevenage and Lewis Hamilton is likely to switch to the left against City with Matt Somner recalled at right-back.
