One hour was all Melbourne could manage against College of Law in division one of the York and District Sunday Afternoon League.

They led 1-0 from a goal by Darren Woodhead - who later went off with concussion - until the hour mark before the College ripped into their fatigue and won 3-1 with strikes from Michael Freebury, David Kemshaw and Chris Wragg.

Clifton consolidated their lead with a 7-1 trouncing of St John's College, for whom Ronald Litteral pulled one back. William Allan (2), Ross Moynihan (2), Richard Bedingham, Darren Brandon and Terry Taylor were on target for Clifton.

The Walnut Tree notched up only their second league win of the season after Tommy Ashes, Peter Elcock and Adam Fella sunk Huntington 3-2, Danny Franks getting one back either side of half-time.

Turf drew 2-2 with Wills Bar in an even match. Turf's scorers were Jamie Agnew and Gareth Gavin, while Sam Thackray netted both for Wills Bar.

Nick Jefferson ran 80 yards to score the goal of the game as Knavesmire beat Clifton Rangers 3-2 in division two. Stuart Dickenson and Alex Malam completed the Knavesmire scoring, while Chris Adie and an own goal comprised Clifton's retort.

Dominant Bubwith White Swan led 4-0 at half-time on the way to a 6-0 win at Rose & Crown 2004. Paul Musson (2), Peter Taylor (2), Neil Hunter and Craig Popple netted.

Alex Rouse got the only consolation for Gimcrack in a 6-1 home defeat to Drum, where Richard Douthwaite (2), Russell Goodwin, Christopher Groom, Nick Oswald and Martyn Twist were on target.

Cross Keys looked to be holding their own at half-time after Gregory Murphy made it 1-1 against Kings Head. But the hosts then strode out through David Allan, Samuel Bothamley, Stuart Ellis and Joseph Jefferson to win 4-1.

James Kennedy scored twice from the spot for Winning Post in a game with three penalties that ended 2-2 with Dunnington Reserves. Grant Bulmer scored Dunnington's spot-kick, while Ben Connell struck a late equaliser from open play.
