YORK City striker Leo Bertos has been released and was playing for neighbours Scarborough as a trialist in this afternoon's reserve match at Doncaster Rovers.

New Zealand international Bertos has been playing for the Minstermen on a non-contract basis since being relesed by Chester City November and figured in four first-team games.

He will be hoping to earn a permanent move to the McCain Stadium before the transfer window closes tonight.

City boss Billy McEwan has not ruled out further comings and goings at KitKat Crescent before today's midnight deadline.

The window only applies to permanent deals and Conference clubs will be able to make loan transfers again from February 7.

City's reserves were playing host to Sheffield United 'B' this afternoon, kick-off 2pm.
