Selby Town lost ground on the leading pack in the Northern Counties East League premier division when they went down 2-1 to third-placed Sheffield at Flaxley Road.

The visitors took an early lead when a deflected shot from James Tevendale beat Adam Mitchell seven minutes in but the Robins equalised in the 37th minute when a Joe Connor corner fell to Steve Rollinson who volleyed home from 15 yards.

The second half was a tight affair with few chances but Sheffield grabbed the winner in the 70th minute when substitute Duncan Bray raced onto a long ball and finished well.

Three second-half goals catapulted Pickering Town into the fifth round of the FA Vase after sending West Country side Tavistock 350 miles home with their tails between their legs.

Alex Mathie's men torpedoed the Devon outfit to book a place in the next round - and pocketed £1,500 into the bargain - in emphatic style.

Former York City player/coach Lee Nogan got the first seconds after half time before James Drinkall piled in with the second ten minutes later and Steve Swailes the third on 69 minutes.

The win not only marks a new boundary for the Ryedale side but also gives them something to play for along with the league cup with promotion into the UniBond League out of the equation after club officials decided not to apply to go up.

The fifth round draw was due to take place today with matches set for February 11.

Tadcaster Albion suffered a major blow to their NCEL division one promotion hopes when they went down 2-1 at Pontefract Collieries in controversial circumstances.

After trailing to a Dale Rimmington goal, Albion levelled through Simon Keogh but were left fuming at Chris Shaw's 68th minute winner.

Albion boss Jim Collis, who criticised some of the NCEL refereeing last week, won't have changed his opinion when Pontefract won a debatable free-kick which led to Shaw scoring from what Tadcaster felt was an offside position.

Goole's steady climb away from the tail end of the UniBond League division one table was dealt a massive blow by fellow scrappers Shepshed Dynamo after being overturned 5-0 at home, despite only trailing by a single goal at half time.

Recent signing Christopher Gray kicked things off in the 28th minute but it was Carl Timms' 69th-minute effort followed by a swift Daryll Thomas double in the 76th and 88th minutes that got the game going before a last-minute fifth.

Glapwell were no match for NCEL premier division challengers Harrogate Railway, who stormed to a 4-1 away win.

Graham Marchant opened the scoring in the eighth minute and later added another in the second half, while Scott Ryan and Graham Whitehead slotted in the other two. Glapwell snuck in with an 89th minute consolation.
