York City top scorer Andy Bishop will be fined for becoming the club's first player to reach five bookings this season.

Minstermen boss Billy McEwan is disappointed that Bishop's indiscipline cost him his place in this afternoon's home match with Grays Athletic and believes the one-match ban was avoidable.

Bishop has netted 14 times for City this season and McEwan was unhappy to be deprived of his services for today's Conference clash.

The City manager said: "I've been telling players since I came here that their discipline had not been good enough and it has cost York City the services of our top scorer, which is a big blow. He will get fined for that because I am not paying players that don't work.

"It's a lack of discipline on his behalf because he's had stupid bookings that he should not have got. He was unlucky with the first booking for celebrating but he should not have got a yellow card for the same offence again and the one at Morecambe was absolutely stupid when he lifted his foot up to try to stop the goalkeeper getting the ball."

McEwan also warned Bishop that he might face a battle to win back his place with Chesterfield striker Tcham N'Toya expected to make his debut this afternoon along with fellow loan signing Darren Craddock.

The City boss added: "It's cost him, the team and the club and he must now learn the hard way because he's left his team-mates in the cart and, whoever gets the chance against Grays, could score two or three and Andy Bishop might not be able to get back in. Our disciplinary record in comparison to previous years has been brilliant and I'm chuffed about that.

"I am disappointed for Andy because he would have liked to have played against Grays but you don't expect your striker to reach five bookings first and he's got to look at that."

Bishop might have been found guilty of excessive goal celebrations this season but his reaction to scoring seems tame compared to that of N'Toya.

Minstermen fans were hoping to catch a glimpse of N'Toya's spectacular, somersaulting routine during this afternoon's match.

Frenchman N'Toya has signed a one-month loan deal from Chesterfield and will be out of contract at Saltergate this summer.

The 22-year-old forward joined the Spireites from Chesterfield's twin-town Troyes in March 2004 after a recommendation from Portsmouth assistant-manager Jim Smith.

Chesterfield boss Roy McFarland offered him a two-year contract that summer and he has since scored eight times in 22 league starts and made 53 appearances in total.
