I WAS delighted to read there are plans for a more frequent Yorkshire Coastliner bus service.

A couple of years ago my employer moved our place of work from Leeds, near the station, to Thornbury near Bradford, despite our protests.

I don't drive. I struggled to commute by train, and found that even if I went at 7am they were still crowded. Evening trains were worse.

Then, because I live in Dringhouses, I faced the problem of getting home from the station.

Then I tried taking the Coastliner to Leeds bus station, and another bus onwards to Thornbury. It takes longer than the train for the actual journey, but there's no problem getting to and from the station, as a short walk at both ends does it.

The Coastliner is an excellent service and as punctual as I could wish.

However, I am not so happy about the homeward journey, and have been saying there should be a commuter bus from York to Leeds because the journey is not so good. A more frequent service would help, as I am not the only bus commuter these days.

I hope Coastliner is really thinking about the commuter for the future. It seems to me than none of the rail companies are, with their short trains and poor service.
