CITY of York Council is looking at giving Newgate Market a "makeover" (December 14).
I say a market under cover would be a big improvement but, as someone who lives and works in York, the city council needs to improve some of the market traders first.
Not satisfied, they extend and alter the stalls, making the footways to get through narrow.
Fallen fruit, drink cartons etc are not picked up. They are squashed, kicked under and around the stalls and left for scavengers or the unfortunate cleaners.
There's room for improvement - let's get it right.
