FREELANCE artist Louise MacLeod will be raising more than one glass to waste management company Yorwaste this Christmas.
Northallerton-based Yorwaste is supplying Louise with the bottles she needs to support her thriving new business - making cheese platters.
Louise, 35, of Wigginton, York, turns glass bottles into bespoke platters, that make ideal gifts for Christmas and birthdays. Her products are proving so popular she now has art galleries in York, Helmsley and Holmfirth
selling her wares.
In order to ensure that supply keeps up with demand, Louise, who uses a kiln in her home to melt the glass into platters, approached Yorwaste about supplying glass bottles.
She said: "I was aware of Yorwaste because they work with City of York Council operating kerbside collection in my area, and the crews used to supply me on an ad-hoc basis when I told them what I did.
"I am always on the lookout for more unusual bottles, because these prove to be the most popular."
