Acomb 'A' recorded one of the biggest wins in the history of the York and District Indoor Cricket League to roar back to the top of division one.

They hammered five-man Malton and Old Malton by 113 runs to move ahead of Sheriff Hutton Bridge on runs-wickets average - and have a game in hand.

Andy Tute (48), Matt Williams (34no), Scott Nicholls (33) and Andy Ingle (27no) piled up the runs as Acomb posted 171-4 before restricting Malton to 57-1.

Malton, restored to full strength, then had little difficulty in seeing off four-man Dringhouses by four wickets.

A feature of that match was the dismissal of Dringhouses opener Gary Wilson for 28 who became the first man in the league's history to be given out for obstructing the field.

Division two leaders Wilberfoss were beaten by 45 runs by Carlton Towers and lost top spot to Thirsk, who finished six-wicket winners against Stillington.

Thirsk beat Carlton Towers in the first round of the Indoor Cup and will play either Acomb 'B' or Rowntree 'B' in round two.

Wilberfoss eliminated Dringhouses and will next meet either Hornsea or Rowntrees 'A' in round two.

The remaining first round ties are: Malton & Old Malton v Thorp Arch & Boston Spa; Stillington v Bolton Percy; Stamford Bridge v Acomb 'A; Clifton Alliance v Sheriff Hutton Bridge.
