SHARP-SHOOTING youngsters from Ryedale School have cemented their position as the region's best basketball players.
The school's under-13 team won the Scarborough Schools' Area basketball tournament for the third year running.
Ryedale got off to a flying start, beating hosts Pindar 31-2. Next came St Augustine's, who were brushed aside 41-2. Scalby were then defeated 15-4.
In a hotly-contested final, the school triumphed over local rivals Lady Lumley's 12-5.
School spokesman Paul Clay said: "Basketball is very much a team game, and our boys played a team game, with sharp interpassing and accurate shooting.
"They all played very well, and their skills and attitude are a credit to them and their coach, Brian Dowson."
