SATURDAY'S York Under-11s Schoolboy match survived the frost but the team itself never got warmed up as they offered up a substandard performance against Hull.
York never got to grips with the physical and determined Hull side and found themselves 3-0 down at the break.
Chances for York were limited, although the hard-working Dan Wilson did go close to scoring.
York briefly threatened at the start of the second period but it was Hull who extended their advantage with some good passing football.
The Hull lead was extended to five before York staged a belated rally towards the end but found the Hull goalkeeper in unstoppable form.
Josh Poulter matched the determination of the Hull boys while Ashley Taylor worked tirelessly at right-back for York in what was their final game before the Christmas and New Year break.
The U11s fate was in sharp contrast to York and Selby Under 16 girls football team who finished as runners-up in the North Yorkshire Schools Football Rally.
They were beaten by competition winners Claro and Craven 2-0 after drawing 1-1 with Scarborough and Ryedale.
