BUBWITH Tennis Club chiefs have received some prestigious awards from noble quarters to recognise their contribution to local sport.
Chris Cobley, chair of the club for five years, went to Buckingham Palace to receive an award from Prince Phillip to recognise his 15 years as secretary of the Humberside Playing Fields Association and 21 years spent on the Council of the National Playing Fields Association, of which Prince Phillip is the president.
Cobley and vice-chair Shaun Pinchbeck also went to County Hall, Beverley, to be presented with Volunteer of the Year awards for their contribution to the development of tennis in Bubwith. This follows the development of a third tennis court in Bubwith.
